A vivid childhood memory is having my mother show me how to sew buttons on a piece of fabric. Huzzah, a “maker” was born! Knitting became a college past time, and I spent endless happy hours in the art barn while getting my degree in art and art history at Bucknell University. Once I started teaching art at The Willow School in Gladstone, NJ after starting a family; I knew I needed to keep inspiring children to create art! I love the joy of discovery on kids’ faces as they create in our studio.
On a personal note, making ceramics is my constant obsession and quest. My ceramics journey is never done. I love sharing what I have learned so far with adults and children, and teach both wheel throwing and hand building to the community. You can find my work at @susanrunk2 on Instagram.
