SUMMARY:Graphite & Watercolor Workshop with Jane Ramsey: Sun. May 17
DESCRIPTION:Graphite & Watercolor Workshop\nSunday\, May 17 \n10 – 4pm \nSpend a day exploring the combination of graphite and watercolor on paper with artist Jane Ramsey. \nMany watercolorists begin with a light pencil drawing to indicate basic shapes of a painting\, only to cover it up with paint. In this case\, we’ll explore: \n\nWhat if the drawing became as essential as the paint?\nHow can the drawing have more emphasis and presence?\nWhat role can color play in combination with the graphite elements?\n\nThese are all the things we’ll be finding out together! \n \nJane will introduce the variety of drawing tools – pencils\, sticks\, liquid graphite and even powdered graphite. Then she’ll show how they can integrate with the watercolor medium. We will even explore going back to add additional drawing and mark making onto the painted areas. \nWe will focus on all the possibilities! This workshop is more about your chance to experience and play with this medium and less about creating a finished piece. (Although you might be surprised with the outcome and consider them “finished”!) \nAll materials will be supplied for this workshop. Just come with 3-6 photo images for inspiration to work from. \nThe workshop will begin with a demo and discussion of materials and techniques. Jane will share some examples of her experimentation in the studio. We’ll talk about papers and how that contributes to the results. \nThen we’ll break into working on our own and Jane will be available for questions and help. \nPack a lunch and beverage so you can take a break when you want. \nWe’ll wrap up the day by gathering around to see everyone’s efforts and share in the joy of making art! \nTo learn more about Jane and see her artwork visit www.\,janeramsey.com. \n

SUMMARY:Monotype Printmaking Workskhop with Artist Jane Ramsey - Sun. March 22
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]\n\n\n\nExplore the mark making possibilities of this monotype printmaking workshop!\n\n\n\n\n\nThe tools in monotype printmaking are simple and easy to use. We’ll begin by inking our acrylic plates and then\, using a variety of different items (rags\, q-tips\, spatulas\, popsicle sticks\, etc.) you will remove the ink to reveal our “whites”.  There’s even more to explore with adding texture by using different items to press into the ink to create patterns. After the print is pulled you can go back in and add more toning or marks using a variety of tools such as litho sticks\, charcoal pencils and graphite. The possibilities are endless!\n\n\n\n\n\nMonotype printmaking is an experience in “letting go”!  Even as you plan and create there will always be unexpected marks that happen. This leads to all kinds of improvisation.\n\n\n\n\n\nJane will be doing a demo of the process and showing you how she finds inspiration from her sketchbooks\, translating them to monotypes. Then you’ll begin making our own monotypes.\n\n\n\nAll art supplies are included.\n\nWhat to bring:\n\n\nThe process can be a little messy so wear appropriate clothes and/or an apron. If you are wearing long sleeves make sure you can push them up out of the way. Nothing dangly on your wrists\, they get in the way.\nBring some photos on your phone for inspiration. Or some sketches or drawings that you find inspiring to work from. The subjects should be simple. For instance\, a singular tree\, flower\, animal\, etc.\nBring 5-6 sheets (8-1/2 x 11) of wax paper or parchment so you can safely transport your prints back home\nPack a lunch/snacks and beverage as we’ll take a break during the day.\n\n\n\n\n\n10-4pm\nSunday\, March\, 22\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nwww.janeramsey.com\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n  \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:February Monthly Watercolor - Master Study of "Working Late" by the late Ray Hendershot
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Nocturns can be scary\, but let’s see if we can learn something with a master study of this beautiful night scene painted by Contempory artist\, Ray Hendershot. Ray dedicated himself late in life to his art although he created all his life. His watercolors are evocative of Andrew Wyeth and have a dreamy\, moody feel. \nArtist\, Jackie Pankuck will take you through the deconstruction of this painting done by Ray to look at good strategies for painting nocturnes. . She will walk you through from drawing to finished painting in this month’s one-day watercolor class. \nAll materials provided and all experience levels welcome. \nCancellation Policy: \nAny student canceling more than 1 week before the start of class will be refunded. Please note\, however\, that we incur a small transaction fee for all online signups. That  amount will be subtracted from your refund. If the class is cancelled by us for any reason\, you will be refunded in full.  For students wanting to cancel within 1 week of a class\, please be aware that your tuition is non refundable as your seat will not be able to be filled.  \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
