About the Class
No wheel required — just your hands, some clay, and a whole lot of possibility. This 8-week hand building class with instructor Laurie Scupp covers the core techniques of clay work without the wheel: pinch pots, coil building, and slab construction.
You’ll move through each method with guidance, building functional pieces like mugs, bowls, and plates, while also having room to experiment with more sculptural and abstract forms. Whether you’re brand new to ceramics or looking for a focused space to continue your own ceramic practice, this class supports both. The small class size — just 8 students — means Laurie is right there with you, every step of the way.
Clay and all firing are included. You’ll leave with finished pieces and a strong foundation in the building techniques that make hand building one of the most versatile skills in ceramics.

Cancellation Policy
Students cancelling at least one week prior to the start of class will receive a full refund. Within one week of the start date, tuition is non-refundable, as we must cover materials and instructor costs.
