SUMMARY:Graphite & Watercolor Workshop with Jane Ramsey: Sun. May 17
DESCRIPTION:Graphite & Watercolor Workshop\nSunday\, May 17 \n10 – 4pm \nSpend a day exploring the combination of graphite and watercolor on paper with artist Jane Ramsey. \nMany watercolorists begin with a light pencil drawing to indicate basic shapes of a painting\, only to cover it up with paint. In this case\, we’ll explore: \n\nWhat if the drawing became as essential as the paint?\nHow can the drawing have more emphasis and presence?\nWhat role can color play in combination with the graphite elements?\n\nThese are all the things we’ll be finding out together! \n \nJane will introduce the variety of drawing tools – pencils\, sticks\, liquid graphite and even powdered graphite. Then she’ll show how they can integrate with the watercolor medium. We will even explore going back to add additional drawing and mark making onto the painted areas. \nWe will focus on all the possibilities! This workshop is more about your chance to experience and play with this medium and less about creating a finished piece. (Although you might be surprised with the outcome and consider them “finished”!) \nAll materials will be supplied for this workshop. Just come with 3-6 photo images for inspiration to work from. \nThe workshop will begin with a demo and discussion of materials and techniques. Jane will share some examples of her experimentation in the studio. We’ll talk about papers and how that contributes to the results. \nThen we’ll break into working on our own and Jane will be available for questions and help. \nPack a lunch and beverage so you can take a break when you want. \nWe’ll wrap up the day by gathering around to see everyone’s efforts and share in the joy of making art! \nTo learn more about Jane and see her artwork visit www.\,janeramsey.com. \n
