Whether you’re brand new to ceramics or looking for a focused space to continue your own ceramic practice\, this class supports both. This 8-week hand building class with instructor Laurie Scupp covers the core techniques of clay work without the wheel: pinch pots\, coil building\, and slab construction. \nYou’ll move through each method with guidance\, building functional pieces like mugs\, bowls\, and plates\, while also having room to experiment with more sculptural and abstract forms. Whether you’re brand new to ceramics or looking for a focused space to continue your own ceramic practice\, this class supports both. The small class size — just 8 students — means Laurie is right there with you\, every step of the way. \nClay and all firing are included. Pottery is an unwavering passion as an instructor sharing the love of mud with all ages for over twenty-five years teaching primarily at the Visual Arts Center of NJ in Summit and currently sharing her time at more studios\, Flemington Pottery\, Old Borough Hall Pottery in High Bridge\, A Maker’s Circle in Pottersville and Propagate in Stewartsville. An artist who typically creates functional pieces on the potter’s wheel\, for Lisette\, the ancient firing method of Raku is a cherished way to produce decorative pieces.
