This 8-week hand building class with instructor Laurie Scupp covers the core techniques of clay work without the wheel: pinch pots\, coil building\, and slab construction. \nYou’ll move through each method with guidance\, building functional pieces like mugs\, bowls\, and plates\, while also having room to experiment with more sculptural and abstract forms. Whether you’re brand new to ceramics or looking for a focused space to continue your own ceramic practice\, this class supports both. The small class size — just 8 students — means Laurie is right there with you\, every step of the way. \nClay and all firing are included. You’ll leave with finished pieces and a strong foundation in the building techniques that make hand building one of the most versatile skills in ceramics. \nTuesdays\, May 19 – July 7 | 10am–1pm | 8 weeks | All levels welcome \nMaterials\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll materials and firings are included. \nCancellation Policy\nStudents cancelling at least one week prior to the start of class will receive a full refund. She began studying ceramics and immediately found a profound passion to create with clay. Her work has been exhibited in galleries\, museums\, and shops\, as well as two solo public installations in New York City. She makes ceramic sculpture as well as functional work\, using both the potter’s wheel and hand building techniques.
