SUMMARY:Graphite & Watercolor Workshop with Jane Ramsey: Sun. May 17
DESCRIPTION:Graphite & Watercolor Workshop\nSunday\, May 17 \n10 – 4pm \nSpend a day exploring the combination of graphite and watercolor on paper with artist Jane Ramsey. \nMany watercolorists begin with a light pencil drawing to indicate basic shapes of a painting\, only to cover it up with paint. In this case\, we’ll explore: \n\nWhat if the drawing became as essential as the paint?\nHow can the drawing have more emphasis and presence?\nWhat role can color play in combination with the graphite elements?\n\nThese are all the things we’ll be finding out together! \n \nJane will introduce the variety of drawing tools – pencils\, sticks\, liquid graphite and even powdered graphite. Then she’ll show how they can integrate with the watercolor medium. We will even explore going back to add additional drawing and mark making onto the painted areas. \nWe will focus on all the possibilities! This workshop is more about your chance to experience and play with this medium and less about creating a finished piece. (Although you might be surprised with the outcome and consider them “finished”!) \nAll materials will be supplied for this workshop. Just come with 3-6 photo images for inspiration to work from. \nThe workshop will begin with a demo and discussion of materials and techniques. Jane will share some examples of her experimentation in the studio. We’ll talk about papers and how that contributes to the results. \nThen we’ll break into working on our own and Jane will be available for questions and help. \nPack a lunch and beverage so you can take a break when you want. \nWe’ll wrap up the day by gathering around to see everyone’s efforts and share in the joy of making art! \nTo learn more about Jane and see her artwork visit www.\,janeramsey.com. \n

This series will cover skills needed by the watercolor artist to manage the paint better so you can enjoy your painting time. \nThis 6 week look at fundamentals includes: \n\nPigment strength – when\, where and how is a critically important in watercolor. Without this knowledge your paintings will look anemic and flat.\nColor Mixing – how to get the color you want\, fast.\nEdges – edge control is all about timing and pigment strength. Without this skill you paintings will be either washed out or too chaotic.\nDeconstructing a scene for the best watercolor outcome. You have to learn how to “see” and scene\, deconstruct the layers and form a strategy for executing it.\n\n \nCancelation: Studios cancelling more than 1 week ahead of the series start\, will receive a full refund. After that\, tuition is non refundable. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Pottery: Hand Building with Laurie Scupp — May-July 2026
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]\nAbout the Class\nNo wheel required — just your hands\, some clay\, and a whole lot of possibility. This 8-week hand building class with instructor Laurie Scupp covers the core techniques of clay work without the wheel: pinch pots\, coil building\, and slab construction. \nYou’ll move through each method with guidance\, building functional pieces like mugs\, bowls\, and plates\, while also having room to experiment with more sculptural and abstract forms. Whether you’re brand new to ceramics or looking for a focused space to continue your own ceramic practice\, this class supports both. The small class size — just 8 students — means Laurie is right there with you\, every step of the way. \nClay and all firing are included. You’ll leave with finished pieces and a strong foundation in the building techniques that make hand building one of the most versatile skills in ceramics. \nTuesdays\, May 19 – July 7 | 10am–1pm | 8 weeks | All levels welcome \nMaterials\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll materials and firings are included. \nCancellation Policy\nStudents cancelling at least one week prior to the start of class will receive a full refund.
