Slip Dipping featuring Ceramic Artist, Lisa Naples
February 23, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm
Saturday Feb. 23rd 9:30am-4:30pm
$160 (materials and $10 firing fee, included)
Casting slip is traditionally used to fill the void of a plaster mold, thereby creating a positive form from the internal void (or ’negative’). In this process, we’ll be forming a positive from the positive instead of from a negative. Lisa will also share the technique of burning encaustic wax into bisque ware that’s been painted with acrylics to get a “cold” finish that resembles a glazed surface.
Please join Lisa Naples for a full day workshop playing around with dipping unconventional objects (like wire or stuffed animals) into casting slip. Participants can look forward to completing the making process (not fired process) on one or two pieces that day. We will fire your piece(s) and return them to you after the workshop.
Come for the community, the learning, the sharing, the love.
