Monotype Printing with Jane Ramsey (Optional Day 2)

Monotype Workshop (Session 2 of 2)
Prerequisite: Must attend Monotype Workshop Session 1
10-2
Monday, August 17
$120.
With the monotype prints created in Sesson 1, we will explore how to use them as the foundation and add to them with assorted materials. Using drawing materials (charcoal, litho crayon, pastels, pencils, etc.) and paints (watercolor and gouache), we will add color and details to bring another level of depth, detail and expression.
It’s a perfect way to use ghost prints (a second print made from the plate that is lighter and more faded than the first monotype print). It’s amazing to see what you can add to the prints and how it transforms them. If you’ve ever admired Degas’ ballet paintings and drawings, you’d be amazed to know that they incorporate the monotype process!
I’ll be doing a short demo showing you some of the techniques I like to use. Art materials will be supplied that you can try out. Colored graphite sticks, pastels, paints, colored pencils, charcoal and more.
What to bring:
- Your photos or reference materials you used the first day
- Your monotype prints made in Session 1
- Any of your personal art supplies you’d like to try
- Pack a lunch/snacks and beverage as we’ll take a break during the day.
