Visible Mending – Techniques to Make Your Favorite Cloths New Again!

Oct 20 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$125.00

Visible mending is having a moment! How many of you have gone into you closet to find that horrible moths have chowed down on your favorite cashmere sweater…or your favorite jeans are wearing through the butt or a great shirt has a stain that will not come out? This class will give you the knowledge to repair those well worn, well loved items that are not up to snuff, and you can repair them with a creative flare so they have a longer life.

Jackie Pankuck & Susan Palmer will teach you mending techniques like darning, patching, boro cloth and embroidery stitching to cover a stain that will not budge. These techniques can be used to fix many types of clothes from knits to woven. You can be “loud” or “quiet” with your choice of mending techniques depending on your style…we prefer loud, but you do you!

You will leave the workshop with your own darning/mending loom and darning needle. All other mending materials/wool will be provided to you in the studio  All you need to bring is something that needs mending. that might be a moth eaten sweater, a stained shirt, a pair of jeans with holes, etc. We will also provide swatches for you to practice on and take home. No experience necessary.

Here are some ideas for inspiration!
