8 Week Drawing Series with Artist, Jackie Pankuck

At A Maker’s Circle, the thing we hear most often is “I can’t draw!” The truth is that drawing is a learned skill that ANYONE can do. You just need the right instruction and encouragement.  Over 8, 2 hour sessions, Jackie Pankuck will focus on specific drawing skills with the goal of teaching you how to really see what is in front of you.  That sounds simplistic but it is critical in drawing and is a practiced skill that anyone can learn.

Topics will include:

• Training our brains to really see. Our brains are very good at making quick decisions which help us avoid danger but hinder our ability to draw. We will outsmart that impulse.
• Creating the illusion of light and form. Remember we are working on a 2 dimensional piece of paper and attempting to create a 3 dimensional piece of art.
• Using mark making to communicate texture, form, arial perspective and more.
• Managing scale in the use of photo references.
• Getting perspective right. It can be frustrating until you know the rules.
• Approaches to getting it right using gridding, angles, measuring, etc.

All materials will be provided and all levels of expertise are welcome.

Cancellation Policy: Students will be refunded in full up to one week prior to the class date. No refunds will be offered within a week of the beginning of the series. We need to manage studio time, material costs and the instructor’s time so late cancelations make this very difficult. Thank you.
