Indigo Stitch Resist Workshop (Evening Session)

October 16, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, repeating until October 23, 2018

Tuesday, Oct. 16 & 23

6:30-9pm

$125 (all materials included)

Indigo dying is the ancient art of making natural fabrics a glorious blue color.  This workshop will take it to another level with stitch resist.  Stitches are used to create a pattern which act as a resist so that the indigo can’t penetrate those areas of the fabric.  You will be working on a natural fiber pillow cover and tea towels.

This workshop will run over two consecutive Tuesdays.  On day 1,  stitch your designs into the fabric with master stitcher, Jackie Pankuck and on day 2, head to expert natural dyer, Kerstin Katko’s indigo studio in Long Valley to learn about making and maintaining an indigo vat.   Kerstin will then help us dip our work into the vats.  You will be working on both tea towels and a natural fiber pillow cover.

Hurry…  Space is very limited!
