“Intentional Dialogue: Drawing in Graphite”
6 weeks – Feb 26- April 2 – Wednesdays
Building your drawing skills is so beneficial for any artist. Learning to see and translate that experience to paper is rewarding. The benefits of improving your drawing skills transfers into the painting studio giving you greater satisfaction and confidence. Making drawings as finished pieces is inspiring.
During our 6-week sessions we will cover:
- materials – a wide range of graphite tools from powdered form to pencils to solid sticks
- line, shading, value and texture
- composition
- special tips and techniques for special effects
- the power of the eraser as a subtractive drawing tool
- papers & surfaces and their importance sketchbook practice
Materials to bring:
1) graphite stick
2) pencils – bring 2-3 pencils
either 4B or 6B pencils
But I am a real fan of the Blackwing pencils – they’re really wonderful…Blackwing Matte or Blackwing 602 –
3) erasers – one of each – kneaded eraser and Tombow mono-zero rectangular eraser
4) powdered graphite – will be provided to you by Jane!
5) Paper – these are all good, you will need one pad to start with at least 24 pages…nothing smaller than 11×14. Here are some options.
I recently bought this Cheap Joe’s pad and was really pleaed with the quality.
About Jane:
Jane’s love of drawing began as a child with a sketchbook and pencil always in hand. She grew up in the village of Lumberville in Bucks County, Pennsylvania immersed in a community of artists.
