Approaches to a Watercolor Winter Scene

Winter scenes are so satisfying to paint with watercolors as it’s the perfect medium to translate the white of the snow and the shadows created when the sun is low in the sky.  The secret to a successful painting is in the shadows that create the contours of the land and highlight the white of the snow.
