$145.00

By definition, sgraffito is a technique of clay ornamentation in which a surface layer of slip or underglaze is incised on a clay body to reveal a ground of contrasting color. In this workshop, we will start with a demo of sgraffito and discuss the different carving tools, underglazes and how to transfer imagery. After painting your pre made bowl with an underglaze color of your choice; you will draw or transfer an image of your choice onto your bowl. Surface depth and imagery are easily achieved through this carving process. After a bisque firing, bowls will be glazed with a clear glaze and ready for pick up in 10 days.
