A Slab Platter and Surface Design Workshop–Sgraffito

Sun 2/26, 12-4pm & Sun 2/5, 12-4pm

On Day one of the workshop, Susan Palmer will teach you proper hand building techniques for creating a clay platter with handles. Once built, we will spend the afternoon developing sketches for the platters to create a transfer image. We will then practice sgraffito carving and mishima techniques on clay tiles with different underglazes.

Day two will consist of building up your underglaze surface on your platter in the morning. In the afternoon we will transfer the image you created and then carve that image into the platter.

No experience necessary.  Platters will be ready for pick-up 10 days after the workshop to allow for firing.

Cancellation Policy:  A full refund will be made for students canceling earlier than 1 week before the beginning of any workshop. Within one week, there are no refunds.
