A Clay Workshop–Hand Build Functional Forms with Visiting Artist, Melissa Mytty

In this two-day workshop, we will experience the joy of pinching and coiling simple functional dinnerware forms such as bowls, mugs, and plates. Melissa will demonstrate her construction method and each participant will explore these techniques and create their own unique clay pieces.
During the first day, we will create at least four forms. They will be bisque fired for the second day where we will explore layering with new Speedball underglaze colors and cone 6 glazes to create whimsical, joyful patterns. Once the glazed forms are fired, you will have created your own functional pottery to use at home! This workshop is suitable for beginner to advanced students.
Luster will be discussed by Melissa in this workshop in theory but we will not use luster on the finished pottery. Check out Melissa’s work at https://melissamytty.com. Class limited to 8 participants.
